Lander's Aguirre wins D Flight, two teammates in finals CLEMSON Lander's Ricardo Aguirre won the D Flight, and teammates Niclas Nilsson and Tommi Vilhunen will play for flight championships today in the Clemson Fall Classic. Nilsson will meet Alex Lin-dholm of Anderson College today in the B Flight finals. On his way to the finals, Nilsson beat Steve Camak of Anderson College 6-3, 6-1, Phillip Maggio of Duke 6-2, 6-7, 6-4, Andy Case of Furman 6-3, 6-4, and Mirza of Clemson 4-6, 6-2, 6-3. Lander's Brett Simpson lost to Lindholm 6-4, 6-4 in the semifinals after winning his first three matches. Anders Persson of Lander lost in the first round to Robert Patrick of Georgia in a three-set match which lasted three hours and fifteen minutes. Vilhunen will meet former Lander player Ongjen Pavlovic, now of Virginia Tech, in today's C Flight finals. On his way to the finals, Vilhunen beat Jason Persson of Anderson, Barry Roe of Virginia Tech, and Joe Venezia and Greg Carr of Auburn. Clemson Fall Classic Lander's Lee Holyoak defeated Jeff Irby of Furman and James Gasparini of Western Carolina before falling to Pavlovic. Aguirre beat Senter Smith of Presbyterian 6-1, 6-2 in the D Flight finals. He also downed Mike Davis of Anderson 6-0, 6-0, Matthew Gruhn of Presbyterian 7-5, 6-3, and Willie Payne of Clemson 6-4, 64. Lander's Colby Correa defeated Marcus James of Western Carolina before falling to Payne in a three-setter.
