Write for KJSISTUAE VJUXtXiAJi Js father of nearly half a hundred children, the reporter began to alt up and take notice, and a few words of inquiry brought forth the following remark able story: Mayer, the hero of the story, Is forty one years of age, and has lived In Newberry county all his life. His home is in the country, No.

7 town ship. He has taken unto himself as many as three wives, which also adds another interesting feature to his life. From the first marriage 20 children were born, ten sets of twins. Eigh teen children resulted from the second union, a number also being twins. The third wife, who is now living in Newberry county, is the mother of three children.

The children at birth were all nor' mal In site and the youngest a boy, weighed 188 pounds at the age of 11 years, which is another remarkable feature of this wondefully large family of children. Mayer thought there waa nothing unusually interesting In connection with his life, so he never told the president about It or had his picture printed in the papers at, the time when Roosevelt's noted remarks before the woman's congress brought forth many stories of large families to prove that the nation's chief magistrate waa in error when he uttered his warning against race suicide.
