November date set Mrs. Samuel Darby Pendergrass, of 312 Blyth announces the engagement of her daughter, Suzanne Shingler, to William Michael Healey. She is a graduate of Cambridge Academy and the College of Charleston. Thompson-Walton Tracy Renee' Thompson and James Acie Walton were united in marriage during a 4 p.m. Saturday ceremony at Harris United Methodist Church with the Rev. Nicholas Elliott officiating. A program of wedding music was presented by Mr. and Mrs.

Phillip McKinney, organist and pianist, and Dean Goss, soloist, all of Greenwood. A reception was hosted by the bride's parents in the church fellowship hall. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Larry E.

Thompson of 102 Stafford Drive. She is a 1983 graduate of Greenwood High ColSchool, attended Columbia lege and is presently attending Lander College. She is employed in the Education Department at Lander College. The bridegroom is the son Mr. and Mrs.

The attendants wore royal blue quiana dresses fashioned with a scooped neckline, fitted bodice and chiffon ruffled petal sleeves. The front of the dress was accented with ruffled chiffon tiers to the waistline. The gathered natural waistline featured a self tie multi-gore skirt. They carried shite lace fans with pteris-fern, pale yellow gypsophila and blue spider orchids, tied with white, yellow and blue satin picot ribbon streamers. The bride wore a formal gown of white organza fashioned with a fitted bodice covered with beaded chantilly lace, a Queen Anne neckline and o- mutton sleeves, also of chantilly lace.

The full flowing A-line skirt was gathered in the back and flowed into a semi-cathedral train. Two panels of chantilly lace flowed down the back of the gown from the waistline and topped the scalloped chantilly lace flounce which bordered the hemline of the gown and train. She also wore a small brim bridal hat of chantilly lace trimmed with pearls, with a pouf in the back attached to a waltz length veil of silk illusion. She carried a European style cascading bouquet of white silk orchids and bridal roses. The bridegroom's father served as best man.

Ushers were Stephen A. Thompson, Sidney Thompson, both bride's brothers, Craig Miller, George H. Walton bridegroom's brother, all of Greenwood, Luther Edwards, bridegroom's uncle and Charles Edwards, bridegroom's cousin, both of Edgefield. It's strapless, sheath-like in fit, and reminds me of something Marilyn Monroe wore in "Some Like It I wear size 5 AA, and as you might surmise from the shoe size, I'm a petite size 4. D.A., Kansas City, Mo. Dear D.A.: This is the season for color afoot, so why not shock your feet in pink, too? Technically, the suede pumps illustrated here are in a color called eggplant, but the shade looks exactly like shocking pink. If you don't want to think pink, the same shoes come in red, cobalt (a purplish blue), henna and black.

Both the red and the cobalt would work with your pink dress. Because this is also the season of twinkling toes, you might want to consider adding jeweled clips at the vamp of each shoe. I asked the woman who was wearing it where she purchases it, and she said it was from small shop in Hawaii, but she could not remember name. I was impressed with the way it moved so gracefully as she walked. As you can see from my drawing the neckline seemed to be the same both front and back.

I'd like to increase the iron in my diet. but I'd rather not take pills or supplements. F.C.

DEAR F.C. Many people, especially women and babies, need additional iron in their diets, and while it requires some thought, you can improve your iron content through diet without resorting to supplements. One of the best sources, of course, is liver. Eating liver once a week is an excellent way to increase the iron in your diet. Liver sausage also is rich in iron, but the increased fat and sodium content of liver sausage makes it a less desirable source.

Red meats such as beef, pork and lamb are also good sources of iron. But even if you don't like liver and don't care to eat red meat too often, you can increase your iron intake with other foods. Eat plenty of dark green leafy vegetables such as broccoli. However, spinach is not a good source, since another chemical in spinach decreases the body's ability to absorb and use the iron content in spinach. Prunes and prune juice are very high in iron and a daily glass of prune juice would be an excellent way to boost your iron content.

Egg yolks are another good source and a good way to feed babies and extra iron. (Feed babies under age 1 egg yolks only, not egg whites, since egg whites are more likely to be allergenic.) Fortified baby cereals can also be used to boost and infant's iron supply. Finally, you can increase your iron intake considerably by simply cooking in cast-iron pans and pots. Some of the iron in the pan is picked up by the food when it's cooked in the iron pan. Anyone who needs additional iron in the diet will see a significant improvement in his iron count by switching to cast utensils for most of their cooking.

With a little care and knowledge about what makes a good, nutritious diet, it's perfectly possible to eat as many nutrients, including vitamins and minerals, as you need without resorting to pills and potions. Good luck and good eating! POLLY DEAR POLLY When a recipe (such as for fruitcake) says to line a pan with aluminum foil, I wrap the foil around the outside, then slip it inside the pan.
