8 DEATHS AND FUNERALS CALHOUN FALLS Mrs. Nellie Bonds Parnell, 83, wife of Clarence J. Parnell of 357 Savannah died Wednesday p.m. at Self Memorial Hospital. She was born in ville, a daughter the late Marion F.

and Ida: Simpson Bonds and was a member of the Calhoun Falls 'United Methodist Church. Mrs. Elsie Nichols Rachels, 55, wife of Johnny Rachels, 225 Georgia died Born in Anderson County, daughter of the late Manning and Alice Belcher Nichols, she was a member of Callie Self Memorial Baptist Church. Surviving are three sons, Joe Stargel of Michigan, Leroy Stargel of Ninety Six and Bobby Stargel of Greenwood; daughter, Mrs. Charles Crawford of Greenwood; two sisters, Mrs.

Cayre Clardy of Greenville and Mrs. Ruth Tumblin of Pelzer: three brothers, the Rev. B. R. Nichols of Piedmont, Oliver Nichols of Greenwood and Gordon Nichols of Piedmont; and 17 grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Friday at Harley Funeral Home Chapel, with burial in Greenwood Memorial Gardens. The body" is at the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight. Mrs. BELTON Lester Mrs.

Hazel Cummins of Donalds, Mrs. Ellie Simpson and Mrs. Nellie Vaughn of Honea Path; a stepbrother, Joe Earl Bagwell of Honea Path; and eight grandchildren. 3 services will be p.m. at Triangle Baptist Church, with burial in Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

Ruth Hughes DONALDS Mrs. Ruth Eugenia Hughes, 73, died Anderson Memorial Hospital Wednesday a morning at after a sudden illness. She was a native of Abbeville County, a daughter of the late Luther and Lula Smith Hughes. She had lived here all her life and was a member of Donalds Baptist Church and taught a Sunday School class for 40 years. She was a graduate of Anderson College and the Baptist Seminary in Louisville, Ky.

She served as president of the WMU and was a retired schoolteacher. Surviving are her husband, Walter Ellis Hughes of the home; sons, Mike and Pat Hughes, Honea Path: a daughter, Mrs. Charles (Betty) Mitchell of Honea Path; three sisters, Mrs. Leo McClain of Donalds, Mrs. Edna Coughenhour of Salisbury, N.C., Mrs.

Dean Organ of Opley, seven grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at Donalds Baptist Church by the Rev. Ralph Hall and the Rev. Law Mobley, Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Three Are Charged In Officer's Assault Three people are being held in the Greenwood County jail in connection with an assault on an officer Tuesday at 10:10 p.m. The incident occurred after officer Donald Huckaby attempted to stop a car driven by Willie H. Mosely, according to police department records. After a chase to Major Street, Huckaby attempted to ap: prehend Mosely, who resisted arrest as a crowd gathered, according to the report.
