POLICE DEPARTMENT The following was taken from reports of the Greenwood Police Department: An Edgefield resident rreported that while he was using a pay phone on Main Street, three black males jumped on him and beat him in the head. A male reported that while he was asleep at the Soul Shack, another man removed $55 from his pants pocket. A Giles Street resident reported that he had been pushed down on the street and $29 taken. An employee of the Cross Creek Gulf Station reported that a man had pumped $5 of gas into his car and paid.

He then pumped more gas into his car from another pump and left without paying. Military rule to 125 (AP) Gen. Policarpo Paz Garcia handed control of the government to the new 71-member ConMeetings. A Montague Street resident reported that approximately a dozen eggs had been thrown at his car while it was parked in his yard. JOHN KING FORT SMITH, Okla. John King, of Fort Smith, died Sunday. He was the father of Mrs. Carroll (Brenda) Owens of Greenwood.

Services and burial will be in Fort Smith. Announcement courtesy of Blyth Funeral Home. GROVER MEDLIN CANTON, N.C. Grover C. Medlin, husband of Eulalia Pierce Medlin, of 149 North Main died Sunday.

Born in Pickens County, he was a member of Calvary Bap- tist Church and a veteran of World War I. Also surviving are a daughter, Mildred Gregory of Canton, N.C.; four sons, Henry and Bobby Medlin of Canton, Joe Bill Medlin of Columbus, Ga. and Winfred Medlin of Okinawa; a sister, Mattie Garner of Ware Shoals; five brothers, Sam, Luther, Homer and J.B. Medlin of Ware Shoals and Ivie Medlin of Western Union; nine grandchildren; four greatgrandchildren. Services will be at 2 p.m.
