8 Wc miss you! 8 The Gray Family Tree Pi I I By BOBBY HARRELL Index-Journal staff writer Rhett Dominick has been interested in government since he as in third grade at Wood-fields Elementary School. The new Greenwood County councilman always ran for office in school. "Didn't always win. but I always ran," Dominick said. So he appreciated coming to Michelle Davis' third-grade class Thursday morning at Mathews Elementary School and talking to students about what he's most interested in.

Davis invited Dominick to class to explain more about county government and citizenship. She has been teaching students about government recently, so she thought having Dominick. the representative for Mathews, answer their questions would help students leam better. Dominick said learning how to be a good citizen would help them later in life. "It makes it easier for them to flow into adulthood," he said.

Students asked Dominick questions about how to become a county councilman, where the county council's office is located and how he gets his photo in the new sparer. He also got a smattering of questions about how old someone has to be to run for county council and if candidates have to live in Greenwood. Dominick told the students Greenwood County serves them by getting their trash picked up and helping them get to the hospital, among many other things. He also said that as a county councilman, he doesn't just answer to their aunts, dads and grandparents. "I'm up there for everybody." Dominick said.

Third-grader Bryanna Sims asked him if women could be on county council. Bryanna ran to be Mathews' student body treasurer, but lost. She wants to be on county Council someday. "dominick told her that women, including county councilwoman Edith Childs, serve on the board. Bryanna said she liked him coming to talk with the class.

"I really did like it because I learned more," she said. Dominick's interest in government continued into college. THE VOICE OF PEACE MINISTRY Interdenominational Bible Study. Revivals. Booklets rj and Prophesy Preaching or Teaching lesus' Words of Life St.
