Mills Here Yesterday Lieutenant H. Mills, Navy, officer in charge lot Navy Recruiting for North and South Carolina was in Greenwood yesterday getting acquainted with the chief, petty officer in charge of sub-stations in this district, and instructing him in recruiting methods, requirements, etc. Lieutenant Mills is a native of North Carolina, a resident of Rutherfordton, a graduate of the U. S. Naval Academy.

He received his appointment through Senator Overman in 1914, and was, until reporting to his present station. aide on the staff of Commander. Destroyer Squadrons, U. 8. Scouting fleet.

Program PROCLAMATION BY MAYOR DEVORE ANDREWS Declaring that the Salvation Army has ever stood ready to extend a helping hand to those, in distress and to relive suffering wherever and whenever called upon Mayor Devore Andrews today issued a proclamation calling upon' the people of Greenwood to support by their effort and finances the Annual Budget Appeal opening tomorrow (Wednesday) morning. The proclamation follows: Whereas on Wednesday, November 16th, and continuing to the next day, Thursday, November a drive will be held for subscriptions to the Salvation Army for the ensuing year; and Whereas this organization has ever stood ready to extend a helping hand to those in distress, and to relieve suffering wherever and whenever called upon; and Whereas the work of the Salvation Army has been for the betterment of the religious and moral life of our city; Now therefore Devore Andrews, Mayor of Greenwood, hereby issue a general proclamation: "First that each and every citizen of our city give serious consideration to the good and constructive work of this worthy organization, and that all possible assistance be given them, financially and otherwise. "Secondly that all civic clubs and- organizations, together with our churches lend their moral and active support, in making this drive an unqualified success.

Leland and Son for 2,000 Stockholders in Old Lincoln Company PONTIAC, Nov: (AP)--Henry Ford was named defendant in a chancery suit involving $6,000,000 filed in Circuit Court here today. by Henry M.

Leland and his son. Wilfred C. Leland in behalf of nearly 2,000 stockholders in the old Lincoln Motor Company. Suit Grows Out The suit grows out of the transaction in February, 1922, whereby Mr. Ford bought from the Lelands for $8,000,000 the Lincoln Motor Company then in the hands of a receiver.

The bill of complaint filed today charges Mr. Ford failed to keep a verbal agreement to buy the outstanding stock of the active stockholders in whose behalf the Lelands are suing. Henry M. Leland was president and Wilfred C. Leland vice president of the Lincoln Company.

The suit 19 brought: under a power of attorney granted them by the stockholders. In their petition filed with the bill of complaint, the Lelands ask that the stock of the new Lincoln Motor Company, Incorporated March 19, 1922, issued in consideration of the transfer of assets of the old company and now held by the Fords, be decreed to be held in' trust for the benefit of the plaintiff stockholders. Other Arrangements In lieu of other arrangements specified in the petition, the court is requested to decree that the Fords be held personally ble to the plaintiffs in the amounts found to have been invested by them, respectively with interest at 6 per cent. The Lelands are represented in the action by Kenneth M. Stevens and William Henry Gallagher of Detroit.
